Some pictures taken on the 2000 Mile Trial.

The start at the Het Loo Palace in Appledorn in Holland.

A backroad somewhere in Poland.

One of the many dirt roads we used probably taken somewhere in the Baltic.

Entry into Gadansk. The center was fenced off for our arrival.

Gadansk again, lots of people and a superb location.

Thats better. Mile after mile of fast gravel. This is the Thousand Lakes Area  in Finland, famous rally territory!.

Nice car this MGC. Vince has had the car for 25 years. He restored it to concourse condition before he started rallying it.

Front shock bottom bolt went walkies so we took off the shock until we could get another bolt.

Crossing the Arctic Circle at Santa's Village. Santa was friendly but did not grant our wishes.

The Australian crew just a few beer cans width north of the Arctic Circle at latitude 66-32-35. No worries mate.

This picture was taken at midnight well north of 66-32-35. Look at the colours and the length of the shadows. It was a strange feeling and nobody wanted to go to bed. Much beer was consumed despite it costing £3 a glass.

Engine problems. We had lots of advice but it still took us 3 evening spanner sessions before we found and fixed the problem.

Due to our engine problems we dropped out of the rally for 3 days and acted as an extra service crew. Here we are fixing a broken front suspension on a 3 litre Austin Healey.

We also spent a day driving the official rally photographer to various vantage points. Here we are playing a trick on Surtees manning an extra control  to check his Jeep.

All three Peking Raiders spent considerable time on repairs at Trondhiem. The Healey using a fork life as a ramp being welded and fitting new rear springs, The MGC and Jag having engine attention. All restarted on time the next day.

In Norway now and the scenery is getting better.

Still climbing, we loose the sun and find low cloud and drizzle.

Then snow. Still lots of lakes and empty roads.

Rocks, narrow roads and even a spiral tunnel and we keep climbing.

We did not stop for a dip!

More drifts these on a road to a ski resort, still in full swing on midsummers day.

A chance to take pictures on one of the ferry crossing in Norway.
Queing at the finish in Oslo, waiting to cross the finish ramp.
Chatting to Bart (the rally organiser) on the finish ramp in Oslo.
